Miss Congo USA
Congratulations to Jessica Mayela. She is This years Miss Congo USA 2011. She will be competing in The Miss African USA pagenat November 13, 2011 in Silver Spring Maryland. Jessica attended Appalachian State University where she received a Bachelors of Science degree in Apparel Textile and Business Marketing. She now attends the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she is continuing her Education. Jessica has done many projects ands spoken at universities and fortune 500 companies about the Rapes in Congo. 1,152 women are raped every day , a rate equal to 48 per hour. That rate is 26 times more than the previous estimate of 16,000 rapes reported in one year by the United Nations. Over1.8 million women have been raped, with up to 433,785 raped in a one year period. This is an issues that is very serious and important to Jessica. She quotes " Its time for us as young people to speak out about this issue. If we continue to let this be unheard than we have turned away from a crisis that is not only affecting thousands but millions". Jessica says in her own words, "One of the purposes that God gave us in life is to be happy, to be productive, to be useful and to have made a difference in some ones life".

This was a great day for DRC Dance Company. We performed at the Nappy Love Fashion Show. More than 700 people attended the event! Great Job Ladies!
